RPM Challenge Listening Party - March 26, 2009

I'm still digesting my trip to Austin for SXSW (I blogged a fair amount about it at www.deborahcrooks.blogspot.com) which was PACKED with music, music, music. Met a lot of great people, shared shows with the very talented Valerie Orth and managed to go to many events despite some annoying allergies. Thanks again to Green Muse, Austin Java, Rynda Laurel & Patric Doyle for hosting, organizing and playing respectively.
Next up is the RPM Challenge Listening Party here in the Bay Area, in Oakland, to be exact. It's part of a global event & you can tune in by following links on www.rpmchallenge.com. I'll be representing the project I did with Alex Walsh, "Crooks/Walsh Blues" that I hope to revisit more formally in late spring. Stay tuned!

It's syndicated through Radio Bracknell www.radiobracknell.com This edition will be rebroadcast twice, on Saturday, February 28, at 1pm EST, then on Tuesday, March 3, 7pm EST on Radio Bracknell, a community-based internet radio station in Bracknell, UK.

New Year, New Shows, New Tunes - January 10, 2009

I hope your '09 is getting off to a great start. After a very satisfying holiday season, I'm pleased to say the muse is back in the house at Bird in the Tree. The band and I are getting ready for shows later this month and next in Santa Cruz and San Francisco, I'm running a series of interviews on my blog (www.deborahcrooks.blogspot.com) with singers, musicians and other creatives, and I've embarked happily upon another project, regular cowriting with Stefan Gustafson. Featuring 11 original tracks, "Adding Water to the Ashes" was produced, engineered and mixed by Ben Bernstein, and features a host of great musicians including Alex Walsh (guitar), Art Khu (guitar, piano, organ), Ben Bernstein (bass), Dave Tweadie (drums), Eamon Ryland (acoustic & electric guitar, lap steel, resonator), Yoon Ki Chai (violin) as well as members of The Whoreshoes. CD almost done! - July 26, 2008

Mixing is almost complete on my full-length CD. Featuring 11 of my original songs, I'm delighted by the great musician's who've played on it including Ben Bernstein, Dave Tweedie, Eamon Ryland, Art Khu, Yoon Ki Chai, Alex Walsh and members of the Whoreshoes.
